Creation Inspirations

Whether it's baking or creating something pretty I cannot sit still. Ever. It's SUPER rare for me to sit through a movie at home or just simply chill out. Yes, I'm currently on vacation, however that does not mean that I'm just vegging out :)

This week I am working on cupcakes and hair pieces for a New Years Eve event and a few upcoming weddings. How nice is it to provide cupcakes and accessories for one event = fabulous!!

Earlier this year, I started collecting vintage jewelry to use in my Hair Petals pieces. Because my cupcake biz has kept me so busy, I haven't had the time to dedicate to my accessories. I'd like to introduce my Revamped Vintage line from Hair Petals. Here are a few photos of a recent creation.....

In addition to the pieces above, I just completed flowers for a bridal party.

I'm working on an adorable flower girl head piece that should be completed by the weekend. Stay tuned!

A New Year

I hope that everyone is having a fabulous holiday! It's so nice to have some much needed and well deserved time off. I'm looking forward kicking back and creating some FANTASTIC new Hair Petals pieces. I just completed three custom pieces for a February wedding. Will post photos soon!

Thank you to Happiknits for including my Spice Hair Petals piece in her lovely treasury. I love the pieces that she included. Check out Happiknits Etsy shop for beautiful handknit art! Click here!

Best wishes for a happy and successful 2009! Cheers xoxo

Happy Holidays!!

I wanted to check in as I have been M.I.A. for quite sometime. My main PC has crashed and I've been so busy baking and creating that I just haven't had the time to blog.

Last month I finally launched my Mira Cakes menu page. It's been a long time coming, but finally made the time to create it. Click HERE to be transported to cupcake bliss.

With the holidays soon approaching I'm not sure how often I'll be here, but will pop in as much as possible. Happy Holidays to you and yours and best wishes from me to you! Big hugs xoxox

Happy Birthday C~Love!

Happy Birthday to my beautiful friend & creative soul~sister Christina! Our girls came together last night to celebrate the life of this lovely lady. These are photos of her special birthday cupcakes that reflected one of her many passions = sunflowers!

I baked my signature Red Velvet cupcakes because my girls love them. The white & dark chocolate sunflowers are handmade by me and dusted with a shimmery luster dust to really bring out the petals. The cupcakes look super elegant and reflect my sweet Christina perfectly.

Dreaming of Dahlias

A few new Hair Petals in the shop tonight. Dahlias are one of my all time FAVORITE flowers. Today, a gal in my office had a vase of the most STUNNING dark reddish~purple Dahlias. They were so dark that they we almost black. She said that the got them at Trader Joe's of all places. Must make a trip there tomorrow. For now, here are some Dahlias that keep on giving.....

Checking In

We returned from our lovely vacation less than a week ago and have been in hiding ever since :) Sean and I loved every minute of our adventure and look forward to returning again in 2009. Pura Vida!

In the next few weeks I will be revamping my Hair Petals Etsy shop. Be on the lookout for my new look and beautiful new hair pieces. I have over 20 new Hair Petals that I was unable to post prior to our departure. Now it's back to business!

Late September, I will be selling Mira Cakes for my dear friend Giselle's Team in Training fundraiser at Nirvana Salon in Los Gatos. She will be hosting a Day of Beauty to raise funds for her upcoming TNT marathon. The date is to be determined and I will share all of the details as they come in!
NEWSFLASH ~ I have an opportunity to sell Mira Cakes at a very popular South Bay restaurant. Had a great conversation yesterday with one of the owners of this eatery and this could be BIG. Once things firm up I will share all of the details. :)

On a side note, the thought of the upcoming fall weather has my brain in *holiday mode*. I look forward to decorating my mini *year round tree* ....which will probably be fulled decorated for Halloween in mid - September. I know. I'm bad, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE to deco.

Brides & Birthdays

One final baking session before some well deserved rest and relaxation! Now that my mixer is back on it's shelf I can finally pack my suitcase. NOW I'm getting excited.

Below are cupcakes for two beautiful brides that are getting married here in the Bay Area. Their wedding colors are pear green and brown, one of my favorite color combinations. They chose my signature Red Velvet and Lemon Poppy Seed for the shower today. Congratulations!

By request, I have been making more cakes for close friends and referrals. I am not good at cake writing whatsoever! Here is a Red Velvet layer cake w/Vanilla Cream Buttercream and chocolate chip sides. Happy Birthday to my friend Derek's Dad "Willie"!

Midsummer Days

The Sfetsy Trunk show was a success! A big thanks to Linda from LindaDavisDesigns for hosting and all the team members who showcased their creative goods! My highlights from the show....
  • Having numerous friends come by to show their support. Love you all!

  • Seeing fellow SFetsy members once again and meeting new ones :)

  • Assisting lovely Kim with her friends bridal shower cupcakes while helping her choose a Hair Petals piece for the wedding.

  • Meeting a lovely Yelper named Jane who came just for the cuppies :)

  • Assisting a soon-to-be bride with cupcakes for her rehersal dinner in September.

  • Turning around only to find your closest South Torrance classmate from 3rd to 5th grade for the first time in over 20 years. Random, but heartwarming!

  • Taking a photo with your long lost friend to remember this moment.

  • My boyfriend Sean trying to reformat my new digital camera, but instead erases every single photo taken at the show. Including the one of my friend and I. Booooo!

A warm hug to Christina of Christina Williams Designs for gifting me these beautiful handmade cards in my favorite color.

I have been playing with a new technique using wire wrapped beads and crystals. Fellow SFEtsy member Linda Davis was my true inspiration as I fell in love with all of her wired wrapped hair combs and head pieces. I have about 20 new Hair Petals pieces to post in my shop, but I am unsure if I will have time before we leave for tropical paradise.

We are very excited for our little getaway to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and visit with my best friend in her new home in CR. I am making some tropical themed Hair Petals that she will be selling in her shop Urban Eclectic in Tamarindo. Five more days and counting. Lots to do!

My Personal Garden of Eden

~My first Dahlia of the season~

I'm a former L.A. girl that has fallen absolutely head over heels for the Bay Area. I love everything about it. The bay, beautiful green trees, mountains full of Redwoods, stunning beaches and mi casita! Sean and I live in a charming little English Tudor home that was built in the 1920's. We are beyond blessed to have such an incredible backyard that provides many delicious edibles.

~Nectarines~

~Oranges~

~Peaches~

~Apricots~

~Apples~

~Passion Vine & Bougainvillea~

~Kings of the Castle~

All of the fruit is delicious as well! The apples are the biggest I've ever seen in my life! They are so large that it only takes me two of them to make a pie. The apricots should be ready early July, with the nectarines following shortly thereafter. Oh my are they sweet! You can expect cobbler, pie and jam blogs from me this summer!
